The Ancient City Poets will present their March Plant-A-Poem workshop at the Gallery Café of St. Augustine (1974 US-1 South, in the Staples Plaza) on March 30th. Arrive with a poem seed and learn how to cultivate it into a presentable poem in an hour. Bring a rough poem or idea about an inspiring woman. A small fee of $10 pays for bottomless coffee and sweet treats. Registration is at 1:45 and the one hour session run from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
Directly after, bring your newly cultivated poem up US-1 to City Coffee (located at 1280 N. Ponce de Leon Blvd, near Village Inn) and share it with a open and support audience of poets and poetry lovers. “St. Augustine Speaks” is an open mic gathering that happens on the last Sunday of every month from 3 to 4:30 pm. The event is free and it is open to all. Come as you are. Not only will the reading observe Women’s History Month (March), it will also kick-off National Poetry Month (April). The March 30th reading starts at 3:00 pm and is held “renga style” with no emcee or sign-up sheet. The reading ends when everyone has had an opportunity to share.
In closing, here is a Spotify.com link to a playlist of sounds and sounds on the March theme of spring time. Enjoy.
