THEME: "Art of Anna Miller / The New Year is Here"
SUNDAY, Jan 27, 2019
A celebration of poems inspired by the art of Anna Miller.
The Ancient City Poets will host a community open mic reading on Sunday January 27th from 3:00 to 4:30 at Corazon Cinema and Cafe (36 Granada Street, Saint Augustine, Florida, across from the Lightner Museum) to celebrate the fine art of Anna Miller. Featured poets will share poems inspired by Ms. Miller's paintings.
Poets invited to read during the first portion of this reading include Michael Henry Lee, Ben Atkinson, Chris Bodor, Joel Esposito, Lou Graves, Sheree Kearns, Liz Robbins, Kimmy Van Kooten, Robert Waldner, and Tonya West. They have each written a poem inspired by Ms. Miller's artwork and the poems have been published in "Refractions", the catalogue for the art exhibit.
An open mic on the theme of "The New Year is Here" will follow. The theme is meant as a writing prompt and it is your choice if you want to stick to the theme or not. A sign-up sheet will be available at 2:30 and the open mic will start at 3:00 pm. Readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the list. The mic will be turned off at 4:30 to allow the last 30 minutes for a meet and greet and networking.

ANCIENT CITY POETS ON YOUTUBE
We have been working hard to document the local poetry scene here in Saint Augustine. We are always looking for college students and videographers with equipment who are interested in shooting footage at the readings. Here is a clip of Michael Grover reading his poem "Tombstone as an Ugly Charm" at the September 2018 100 Thousand Poets for Change reading. Footage shot by Chris Bodor. We launched the Ancient City Poets Youtube Channel in April of 2018 for National Poetry Month. Subscribe to our channel so you can get notified whenever new footage is added.
